Show House 2012 The Process
When I first saw the room it was a fairly nondescript space,
but it had good natural light and a cool terrazzo floor.
I wanted the room to be lively and comfortable.
I started the design process at Anthropologie. I knew they would have the bowls, cups and dishes I wanted…
and they did. I now had the color and pattern for the room.
The sunburst mirror, floral sphere light fixture, and vintage sideboard bring a mid century sensibility to the room.
I used a leaf pattern motif wall covering. Instead of hanging it on the wall I applied it to a board that was placed on the wall.
An arrangement of decorative plates hangs over a rolling metal cart (great for organizing an on going project).
The orange metal chair, round table with a hammered metal base and white garden style chairs are new pieces that bring an updated design to the space. Art work is from Julie Malone and Muriel Eulich.
The table and white chairs sit on a custom, hand knotted wool rug I call Flower Power.
For added styling details there were scones on the center plate, orange juice in the glasses and fresh flowers on the sideboard.
The front entry to the 1962 William Bernoudy designed house.
